Resident Event Ideas for July 2023

Apartment Resident Event Ideas for July 2023

As July approaches, it’s the perfect time to embrace the anticipation of upcoming events. According to recent studies done through the National Apartment Association, residents are more likely to stay where they feel a sense of belonging and community. July offers a plethora of thrilling activities and gatherings for you to consider when planning your next resident event in your apartment complex. If you need help brainstorming the perfect resident event ideas beginning July 2023, look no further.

Independence Day Party: Celebrate America’s birthday with an Independence Day Party on or around July 4th. Because so many people travel or make other plans on the actual 4th, hosting this event on a different day can increase participation. Consider a costume contest where residents dress up as historical figures from the 1770’s with winners receiving a copy of the Declaration of Independence.

Ice Cream Social: Sometimes it’s the simple classics that appeal to people for a reason. There’s a sense of comfort and nostalgia for events like a good, old-fashioned ice cream social, that draw all ages. Invite residents to gather together and get to know each other while enjoying an ice cream sundae bar. Let them choose from an array of flavors and toppings. You may choose to diverge from this classic idea by jazzing things up with a competition for the best-looking sundae created or the most creative flavor combination. Regardless, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a single resident aged 3-103 who will pass up on free ice cream.

Summer Luau: Often, residents may be out of town for long weekends or holidays, but those that remain may love an opportunity to get out and spend time with their neighbors. This is why events like a luau can be a great favorite among apartment residents. Hire a local Hawaiian restaurant to cater, stick up some tiki torches, and hand out leis around the community pool. You can get really into it and include things like a hula contest, or limbo competition. Even get really adventurous and hire fire dancers. The possibilities with this event are plentiful…

Baseball BBQ: What’s summer without baseball? Grab some drinks and set up the projector. Sporting events are often a big hit with residents and are as easy as grilling hot dogs and handing out sodas. Invite residents to come watch any local university or major league teams play and grab a burger or hot dog while they’re there.

Pet Grooming Day: For many residents, their “fur babies” are their family. Set aside a day to hire a professional groomer to be on-site. Offer residents the opportunity to sign-up for a grooming session for their pet at the clubhouse. You can even have favor bags available to participants full of treats and small toys.

Back to School Donations: Place a donation box in the office with lists of local school supplies needed for children in your community. Designate a place for residents to drop off their donations to kids in your area who may not have the means to purchase back-to-school supplies at the end of summer. You can offer a small incentive for those who donate like a soda or popsicle. It will give your residents a chance to feel like they are doing something to help build their own community and serve those around them.

July’s “National Day” Celebrations

Each month we highlight different “National Days” that make for great apartment resident events and activities. These come from the National Day Calendar and are a great reason to have an event or activity for your apartment residents!

Resident Event Ideas for July 2023

National Sugar Cookie Day on July 9th: Host a cookie decorating event for your residents. Have different flavors and colors of icing for them to choose from. May the best cookie win!

All American Pet Photo Day on July 11th: Residents love showing off their pets. Host a photo board in the lobby where residents can post pictures of their All-American pets. Property managers can also share these photos with residents via the community Facebook group.

National French Fry Day on July 13th: What better way to celebrate National French Fry Day than with a fry taste off? Property managers can bring in fries from favorites like McDonald’s and Wendy’s to Five Guys and do a blind taste test. Let residents vote for their favorite fries ahead of time, and see how the blind test stacks up!

National Ice Cream Day on July 17th: An ice cream social is an easy and logical event to pull off on National Ice Cream Day. This day falls on the third Sunday of July every year. Hosting an ice cream making class can tie this event into National Culinary Arts Month.
