Resident Event Ideas For February 2023

February 2023 Apartment Resident Event Ideas For Multifamily Property Managers

February is the shortest month of the year but it does not mean it can’t be fun! Dark, cold, and full of winter weather, February is the perfect time to host events to brighten your resident’s day and let them know you are thinking of them. If you are looking for inspiration for resident events and activities, take a look at our ideas for February 2023.

Host A Super Bowl Watch Party: Everybody enjoys some aspect of Super Bowl Sunday, whether it’s the halftime show, the commercials, or the game. Not everybody wants to go all out hosting a party for the occasion. Few have enough space in their apartment to do so. That makes the Super Bowl a great concept when it comes to February events for apartment residents. It’s the perfect way to show your residents you’ve got their best interests at heart, even if their favorite team did not make it through from September last year. Here are some ideas:

  • You can arrange a big screen broadcast and get everyone involved with placing friendly bets.
  • Set up a dress code involving wearing their team’s colors or their favorite fan gear.
  • For catering, you can provide a few snacks, or arrange a potluck event.
  • If you have got enough outdoor space, you can arrange a couple of food trucks for the occasion.
  • If you have got the budget, everyone loves a barbecue to celebrate this fun day.

Cooking Classes: Cooking classes and competitions appeal to people’s competitive streaks and are a delicious way to get everyone together. There are also a few food-themed national days in February for inspiration, like:

  • February 1st – Dark Chocolate Day
  • February 3rd – Carrot Cake Day
  • February 4th – Homemade Soup Day
  • February 5th – World Nutella Day
  • February 9th – Pizza Day
  • February 20th – Muffin Day
  • February 23rd – Chili Day

Otherwise, you can try one of these classic cookery classes for maximum appeal.

Pizza Making Class: Comfort food of every kind is a top hit in the winter, and you cannot go wrong with America’s favorite food – pizza. Pizzas are super easy to make from scratch and offer endless variety to placate even the fussiest eaters. That makes this event ideal for all ages. End the event with a bang by letting residents try out each other’s creations and vote for the best one. You could use a meal voucher for a local pizza store as the prize.

DIY Valentine’s Day Cards: We have been exchanging Valentine’s cards since the renaissance, set up a table with cardstock, markers, stickers, and more for residents to make cards to give to friends and family. This is a great Valentine’s Day activity for properties with lots of young children, who can make cards for their parents.

Resident Event Ideas For February 2023

Mix and Match Wine Evenings: February 18th is National Drink Wine Day, which opens up a wealth of event possibilities. Nowadays, wine and food pairings have almost no limits. So, you can modify your get-together to suit your city or demographic. Some popular matches for wine include cheese, olives, chocolate, and nougat. Get to a local winery to sponsor a few bottles and send a representative along to guide these culinary explorations. Themed wine and paint events are another popular option, allowing residents to explore their creativity.

Single’s Evening: According to Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies, approximately 48% of single people live in rented homes. Singles are less likely to have something planned for Valentine’s Day. They can also benefit the most from meeting new people at events for apartment building residents. So, there’s a good chance you’ll attract a sizeable crowd for your singles get-together. Finger snacks are the perfect complement to your evening. A DIY cocktail bar takes it to the next level, especially since it’s National Margarita Day on 22 February.

Game Night: A games night is a good way to encourage interaction, especially if you divide your guests into random teams. Trivia is always a top hit and something you can host regularly if you change them each time, e.g. James Bond or Game of Thrones trivia. Bingo is popular with all ages. Casino games present opportunities for residents to glam up for a themed Las Vegas evening. Murder Mystery events present another opportunity to dress in costumes and work as a team. These fun occasions usually suit smaller groups of 20 to 25 people, so they work well to create connections between residents. For extra impact, you can offer a prize to the team with the most points at the end of the year.

February’s “National Holiday” Celebrations

Each month we highlight “National Days” that make for a great excuse to host a resident event or activity. All of these come from the National Day Calendar and are fun for residents of all ages!

Groundhog Day on February 2nd: A fun annual tradition, have residents predict if Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow. This can be as easy as creating a poll in your Facebook group. For more interactive fun, have residents submit their guesses to a poll and pick a name at random, if they get the answer right, the winner can get a small gift card.

Send A Card To A Friend Day on February 7th: Use this day to combine sending mail to a friend as well as a valentine’s day activity. Set up a table with blank cards and envelopes with markers, stickers, and other arts and crafts staples and let residents come and enjoy card making. Supply stamps and keep a basket for finished cards and send out cards together. This event is particularly popular for residents with young families as kids can have the opportunity to make cards for their parents.

Valentine’s Day on February 14th: Show affection to the ones you love and care about. Celebrate love through many different kinds of celebrations. Set up a table for every resident to make Valentines to showcase across the lobby. Pass out chocolates and roses to residents throughout the day to make everyone feel included and thought about this day.

National Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17th: Everyone loves coming together to do a good deed. Set up an Acts of Kindness table where residents can come and complete various activities that will make them feel good and bring a smile to others. Some ideas include collecting food for a food bank, words of encouragement cards that residents can take with them and give to people who might need a bit of extra love, or making and sending thank you cards to service members or local police and fire depts.

National Dog Biscuit Day on February 23rd: Everyone loves their pets. If your property allows pets, set up a table outside and encourage owners to take their dogs for a walk to come to get a treat or two! Not only will this let you get to know your residents, but it encourages interaction between neighbors. If your property has a dog park, have your table at the entrance so dogs can get a treat as they come or go. You can also use BringFido to find local destinations that are dog friendly if there are no options at your property.

Skip The Straw Day on February 25th: Celebrated the last Friday in February, National Skip the Straw Day was started in 2017 to encourage Americans to give up the straw habit and help spread awareness about the damage caused by disposable plastics. To celebrate, consider ordering customized metal straws with your property name and giving them out to residents!
