Apartment Resident Event Ideas for December 2021
As the winter holiday day season quickly approaches, give your residents some holiday cheer with a month full of events. If you’re looking for inspiration for your next resident event, take a look at our apartment resident event ideas for December 2021.
Tree Decoration: Thinking about setting up a tree in your property’s common area? Rather than hire someone to decorate, have your residents put up decorations or set up a table for everyone to make their decorations. You can provide all the arts and crafts supplies, decorations, drinks, and snacks. This will provide a great opportunity for everyone to connect and bond with one another and maybe leave with new friends.
White Elephant Party: As we all know; gift-giving is one of the more exciting parts of the holiday season. Hosting a white elephant party in your common area can add to the holiday spirit. Make sure to include the maximum amount each resident should spend on their gifts. Set up a designated area for residents to place their white elephant gifts throughout the day leading up to the event.
Toy Drive: What better way to give back to your community than hosting a toy drive? Ask each resident to purchase toys for families in need. Set up bins throughout the building so residents have an easy drop-off point. Make sure to include the maximum amount each person should spend and the duration of the toy drive. If there is a specific nonprofit organization that you like to partner with, see if they can provide a wish list of the families in need and set up a signup sheet.
December’s “National Holiday” Celebrations
Every month we highlight “National Days” that make for great apartment resident events and activities. All of these come from the National Holiday Calendar and are a great reason to have an event or activity for your apartment residents!
National Pie Day on December 1st: Organize a pie contest where each resident bakes their favorite pie. Set up tables in the lobby to display the pies and include ways for each person to vote on their favorite. Once a winner has been chosen, you can provide prize options such as gift cards.
National Gingerbread House Day on December 12th: Perfect for residents with kids, invite families to decorate their own gingerbread houses in celebration of national gingerbread house day. Provide all the ingredients and some eggnog to keep up with the holiday spirit. You can easily turn this into a competition where residents can compete for prizes of their choosing.
National Sangria Day on December 20th: In celebration of national sangria day, you can set up a table where residents bring down their favorite sangria and host a tasting. You can also have residents provide recipes for other residents to try out. Another option you can do is bring in a sommelier to host a wine tasting and educate the residents on different types of wine including the best ones to use for sangria. Better yet, you can set up paint and sip where each resident brings their sangria to share and paint the night away.
