smores at an apartment resident event in august 2021

End the summer on a high note with fun and intriguing August events for all of your residents. Start planning now with inspiration from our apartment resident event ideas for August 2022.
Field Day– Nothing says summer like a classic field day style party. This can be an event for both kids and adults. Bring in backyard games, such as cornhole, croquet, spikeball, and bocce, and let residents compete for prizes. Property managers can serve light refreshments or combine this with a larger BBQ style party at the end of the day.

Potluck Dinner – Plan a potluck dinner for all of your residents. Encourage residents to submit recipes for the dish they plan to bring or other favorite dishes. Compile the recipes and create a resident cookbook. You can then distribute the cookbook at the potluck dinner.

Bonfire – Organize a bonfire for residents of all ages. Provide the supplies and the ingredients for smores and let residents roast marshmallows on the open fire. Consider hiring entertainment, such as a local band, to put on a show for the residents during the bonfire.

Sunrise Yoga – Give your residents an opportunity to unwind with early morning yoga classes. Hire a local instructor and set up a space in the courtyard or other outdoor area. Be sure to have an indoor space prepared as backup in case the weather doesn’t permit an outdoor event.

August’s “National Day” Celebrations

Every month we highlight “National Days” that make for great apartment resident events and activities. All of these come from the National Day Calendar and are a great reason to have an event or activity for your apartment residents!

National IPA Day on August 4th: Organize an IPA swap where your residents can bring a case of their favorite IPAs and trade amongst other residents. At the event, you can provide information on local breweries or even invite a local brewer to talk about the history and process of their own IPAs.

National Book Lovers Day on August 9th: Get residents reading by hosting a book club event on National Book Lovers Day. Have residents read the same book leading up to the 9th, then host a gathering to discuss the book. Property managers can also host a book share type of event where residents donate books to a common “library” for the community. Click here for tips on hosting a successful book club event.

National Fajita Day on August 18th: Celebrate this delicious holiday with a make-your-own fajita bar. Provide all of the ingredients, or contact a local Mexican restaurant to cater the event. Residents can come and enjoy good food and good company. Another way to celebrate National Fajita Day is doing a virtual cooking class.

National Dog Day on August 26th: Residents love their dogs, and National Dog Day on August 26th is the perfect excuse to show them off. Host a “dog party” or even a dog fashion show. For a smaller celebration, simply put out dog treats residents can give to their furry friends.
